Cocaine: Cocaine Facts

Question: Does anyone know from personal experience if cocaine interferes with birth control pills?

I take ortho tri cyclen lo. Two weeks ago I did a line of cocaine, and had sex four days later. I know, it's disgusting and I messed up and will never do it again. I asked a pharmacist whether the coke would make the pill less effective and she said she didn't think so, but that there was no proven studies on whether it would. So I'm just asking if anyone knows for sure if it will make birth control pills less effective. I'm too embarrassed to ask my doctor

No. I did cocaine almost daily for a year and a half while taking birth control pills and never got pregnant.

Well your right to think that it is stupid because, yes, it is stupid. But yea it will DEFINITELY interfere with your birth control. Cocaine is a form of a stimulant and a narcotic. So that will interfere with the definite effectiveness of the BC. But you will probably be fine. Just don't do drugs again.

The actual drug name for cocaine is benzoylmethylecgonine, which is surprisingly very similar to drugs many people take on a regular basis. (Ritalin= methylphenidate, which is almost the exact same chemical make up as cocaine and has nearly the same effect). It is completely ok to take both a methyl drug and birth control at the same time ---but I am NOT saying it's ok to do coke, just saying it won't affect BC. We all make mistakes.
