Question: Heroin and crack cocaine addiction?

Has anyone here managed to kick the habbit of using heroin and crack without assistance...I kicked the habbit 5 years ago which took me 12 months and my friends and family are so proud of me.

Well done you, I dont know any addicts but from what I read and see on the TV it looks like a terrible addiction, once again I say welldone to you.

Why did you to it in the first place? After everything you see on TV, and people you see gettin into debt and being totally life dependent on it... what made you think it would help what ever problems you had initially? Sorry, i know thats harsh, but its my view.

Had a very bad habit the nearly killed me , came to a point that I was so sick with infections that kicking the habit was made easy by the fact I was no longer physically able to carry on , As you I put it down as one of my biggest personal achievements , and knowing that I achieved it carries with me that anything after is possible

That's fantastic. It's easy for everyone else to sit on the bench and judge, because they have no idea what you have gone through. And just how hard it is to give up. I think that we need to be more open about these things in order to help people who are also facing the same problem.

Thats fantasic. Its very inspiring to hear from people like you.....there's so many barriers that you must have had to overcome---- and so much you will have learnt on the way. You have alot to offer many people Its not often people with addictions get to hear from people like yourself. Shout loud and proud
