Question: Drug addiction... please help!?

Im writing a Persuasive Essay for school and it about drug addiction. Im trying to convince people that people who are addicted to drugs should not be considered criminals. I only have 2, they are: Its easy to get addicted and Drug addiction is an illness, not a crime. If you could help me find another reason, it would really help me a lot. Thanks.

Its easy to get into drugs in the first place...i mean you had to start someplace and with all the peer pressure its easy to start

There are indications that some people may be genetically predisposed to addictions. My whole family, on both sides are variously addicted to alcohol, gambling, drugs, sex, internet, and/ or religion. Whatever gets them high. Me; internet, and Y!A., but at least I have learned to use it for socially beneficial purposes.
